Jamie Pepin-Martin, 40, of Conway, AR, and formerly of Kankakee, passed away Monday, September 16, 2019. A celebration of life is from noon until 4:00 PM PM Saturday, September 28, 2019, at Clancy-Gernon-Hertz Funeral Home in Kankakee.

“The City has been working with the State Fire Marshal, and a report has not come back yet. Until all reports are complete, any activity and all events have been suspended until further notice. Public safety is our number one priority.” says City of Kankakee Marketing and Communication representative Jasmine Humble.

“This is the second year we received a grant from First Alert for the public education campaign regarding the Illinois new 10 Year Smoke Detector Law. This year we have focused more on communities in the northeast portion of the state. Kankakee was chosen based on its population and geographic location. SPRINGFIELD — The Illinois Department of Transportation today renewed its call for qualified individuals to step forward and apply for seasonal positions to help with snow-and-ice removal across the state. Through the department’s annual “snowbird” program, temporary snowplow drivers are hired every year on a full-time and on-call basis.
