Braidwood, IL – As temperatures rise to extreme levels this week, residents of Will County are urged to utilize local cooling centers to stay safe and comfortable.

According to the Braidwood Emergency Services and Disaster Agency (ESDA), several facilities have been designated as cooling centers to provide relief from the heat. These centers include Braidwood City Hall, Godley Village Hall, Diamond Village Hall, Wilmington City Hall, and the Wilmington Lions Club.

Braidwood City Hall, located at 141 W. Main St., will be open Monday through Friday from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. For after-hours access, residents can contact the Braidwood Police Department’s non-emergency number at (815) 458-2341 to have an officer open the city council chambers. Other locations, such as Godley Village Hall and Wilmington City Hall, are available by request only. Residents needing these facilities can call the provided contact numbers.
