Saturday Morning Fire Displaces Lombard Residents, Damages Top $250K

Lombard, IL – A fire broke out Saturday morning on the 500 block of S. Chase Avenue in Lombard, rendering a home uninhabitable and causing an estimated $250,000 in damages.

According to the Lombard Fire Department, crews responded to the scene at 10:23 a.m., shortly after smoke was reported at 10:18 a.m. Lombard Police confirmed visible flames upon arrival. Firefighters battled heavy fire at the rear of the home, using multiple hose lines to contain the blaze. Progress was briefly hindered by floor damage inside the home, but firefighters extinguished fires in the basement and main level and prevented spread to the second floor and attic.

Utility services were safely disconnected, and thorough searches confirmed all residents had evacuated. No injuries were reported among firefighters. A neighbor was evaluated by paramedics but declined further treatment.

The cause of the fire remains under investigation by the Lombard Fire Investigation Unit.
