Indiana, Pa. – Snow and gusty winds are combining to create difficult travel conditions across western Pennsylvania and nearby West Virginia mountains through Tuesday evening.

According to the National Weather Service in Pittsburgh, a Winter Weather Advisory remains in effect until 5 p.m. Tuesday for areas including Mercer, Venango, Clarion, Jefferson, and Indiana counties, along with the Laurel Highlands and higher terrain of northern West Virginia. Snowfall totals could reach up to 4 inches, with wind gusts as high as 35 mph causing blowing snow and reduced visibility.

Communities such as Indiana, Clarion, Grove City, and Franklin are seeing roads become snow-covered, while higher elevations near Ligonier, Ohiopyle, and Canaan Valley face the greatest impacts. Bridges and overpasses are expected to ice over quickly, increasing accident risk during both the morning and evening commutes.

PennDOT and local officials urge drivers to slow down and check 511 services for real-time road updates. Gusty winds may also bring down tree branches, adding to travel hazards.

Snow will taper late this afternoon, but slick spots and reduced visibility may linger into the evening as temperatures remain near freezing.
