Beaver, Okla. – Tornado sirens could sound across Oklahoma’s Panhandle Wednesday afternoon as a Tornado Watch remains in effect for Beaver and Texas counties until 10 p.m. CDT.

According to the National Weather Service’s Storm Prediction Center, conditions are favorable for the development of tornadoes, damaging winds, and large hail in the region. The watch was issued at 2:15 p.m. and includes the entire evening hours as storms move eastward.

Residents in Beaver and Guymon should remain weather-aware and have a safe shelter plan in place. Outdoor activities should be delayed, and those traveling along U.S. Highway 412 and State Highway 3 should monitor for rapidly changing conditions. Emergency managers recommend charging mobile devices and staying tuned to NOAA Weather Radio or local alerts.

The storms are part of a broader severe weather system affecting the central Plains, with Oklahoma’s Panhandle sitting on the edge of the most volatile atmospheric conditions. This is the second tornado watch issued for the area in May, and more may follow if storm cells strengthen overnight.

Tornado Watch 342 remains active through 10 p.m. CDT. Updates will follow if warnings are issued.
