Elko, NV – A winter storm is set to bring rain, snow, and patchy fog to Northern and Central Nevada starting tonight. The system will begin with rain this evening and transition to snow overnight, creating potentially hazardous conditions for drivers along major routes like I-80.
According to the National Weather Service, precipitation will begin around 7 p.m. Friday and shift to snow between 10 p.m. and 2 a.m. Saturday. Visibility may drop due to fog, and less than half an inch of snow is expected overnight. The high temperature on Saturday will reach 38°F, with clear skies predicted by the afternoon.
The storm will continue to affect travel conditions through Saturday morning. Motorists are encouraged to allow extra time for travel, especially in higher elevations where snowfall may be more significant. Sunday is expected to bring calmer weather, with partly sunny skies and a high of 41°F.
Looking ahead to early next week, temperatures will remain chilly, with highs near 40°F and lows in the mid-20s. A chance of snow returns Monday, making it essential to stay updated on weather conditions if planning to travel.
Residents should prepare for fluctuating visibility and icy roads. Keep emergency kits in vehicles and monitor local updates for changing forecasts.
