Glasgow, MT – A powerful winter system is bringing heavy snow and dangerous cold to eastern Montana this weekend, with significant travel disruptions expected along US Highway 2 and surrounding areas. Snow accumulations of 6–8 inches and wind chills as low as -35°F could make travel hazardous and outdoor exposure dangerous.

According to the National Weather Service, a Winter Weather Advisory and Cold Weather Advisory remain in effect through Saturday. Snowfall will intensify Friday night into Saturday morning, with peak winds gusting up to 28 mph, causing blowing snow and limited visibility.

Residents are urged to avoid unnecessary travel and take precautions to stay safe. Frostbite can occur in as little as 10 minutes under current conditions, officials warn. Those needing to travel are encouraged to dress warmly, carry emergency supplies, and allow extra time to reach their destination.

Looking ahead, conditions will improve slightly on Sunday, with temperatures reaching 14°F and only a slight chance of snow. However, colder weather returns Monday, with highs near 8°F and lows dipping back below zero.

Travelers on US Highway 2 and local routes should monitor updates from the Montana Department of Transportation for road conditions. Officials recommend postponing travel if possible.
