Michigan – A brief stretch of sunshine and gusty winds is giving way to a wet and messy setup, with flooding concerns building quickly across the Upper Peninsula.

According to the National Weather Service in Marquette, a Flood Watch remains in effect until 8 a.m. Saturday as rain and snowmelt increase runoff across the region. Showers develop late today, then intensify tonight with rain chances near 90% and even a few rumbles of thunder possible .

Marquette will reach near 60°F today with breezy south winds gusting up to 30 mph, especially along US-41 and exposed shoreline areas. Conditions deteriorate tonight as steady rain moves in, potentially overwhelming already saturated ground. Low-lying roads and poor drainage areas are most at risk for standing water.

By Saturday morning, colder air pushes in, changing rain to a mix of snow and sleet. While accumulation remains light, the transition could create slick spots on bridges and untreated roads. Winds remain brisk, adding to the chilly feel.

Sunday brings quieter weather with partial sunshine, but temperatures stay cool in the low 30s. Overnight lows drop into the 20s, raising concerns for refreezing where water lingers.

Conditions improve early next week, with sunshine returning and highs gradually climbing into the 40s and 50s.
