Buffalo, NY – Lake-effect snow will continue to impact western New York this weekend, with additional accumulations creating hazardous travel conditions. Forecasters warn that areas southeast of Lake Ontario, including Wayne and Oswego counties, could see between one to three feet of snow by Sunday morning.
According to the National Weather Service, snowfall will intensify Friday night and persist through early Sunday. Winds gusting up to 41 mph on Saturday may cause blowing snow and reduce visibility along major roadways, including sections of I-90. Motorists are urged to check forecasts before traveling and allow extra time for delays.
Saturday’s high will be near 27°F, with temperatures dropping to 22°F overnight. Snow showers are likely to linger into Sunday morning before tapering off. While Sunday’s high is expected to reach 28°F, gusty winds may make conditions feel colder.
Looking ahead to next week, temperatures will remain below freezing, with a slight chance of snow showers Monday and Wednesday. The extended forecast shows mostly cloudy skies through Thursday, with lows dipping into the teens.
Residents in the region should stock up on essential supplies, stay updated on changing conditions, and prepare for potential disruptions. Travelers are advised to consult live updates from the National Weather Service at weather.gov/buf.
