Detroit, MI – Rain and cooler temperatures are moving into Southeast Michigan and the Detroit metro area starting Tuesday, May 12, bringing a midweek cooldown before a gradual warmup into Friday.
According to the National Weather Service in Detroit/Pontiac, increasing clouds Tuesday afternoon will give way to showers developing later in the day, becoming more widespread into the evening hours. Isolated non-severe thunderstorms are also possible Tuesday night, with daytime highs reaching between 57 and 66 degrees before dropping into the mid-40s to low 50s overnight.
By Wednesday, May 13, conditions turn cooler and breezy across Wayne, Oakland, and Macomb counties, with scattered light rain showers or sprinkles lingering throughout the day. High temperatures are expected to remain between 51 and 59 degrees, marking the coolest day of the week.
A gradual improvement arrives Thursday, May 14, as skies turn partly sunny and temperatures rebound into the mid-50s to mid-60s. The warming trend continues into Friday, May 15, with highs climbing to between 65 and 70 degrees under partly sunny skies.
While no severe weather is expected, the combination of rain and cooler air could impact evening commutes Tuesday and outdoor plans through midweek. Drivers should watch for slick roads during periods of steady rain Tuesday night.
Residents across Southeast Michigan should keep jackets handy and plan for fluctuating conditions as the region transitions from early-week rain to a milder finish by Friday.
