Springfield, IL – Agricultural professionals, landowners and conservation advocates will have three opportunities this summer to learn about drainage water management and conservation practices through a statewide workshop series hosted by the Illinois Land Improvement Contractors Association.
According to the Illinois Land Improvement Contractors Association (ILICA), its full-day Drainage Water Workshop will be held at three Illinois locations: June 24 in Freeport, July 9 in Decatur and Aug. 5 in Noble.
The workshops are designed to provide practical, research-based information on conservation drainage, water quality improvement efforts and emerging practices affecting Illinois agriculture. Organizers say the events will bring together contractors, farmers, landowners, agency personnel and conservation professionals for discussions on some of the industry’s most important topics.
Workshop sessions are expected to cover edge-of-field conservation practices, nutrient loss reduction strategies, wetlands and Waters of the United States (WOTUS) considerations, USDA program updates and current agricultural research.
Each event will feature a similar agenda while incorporating local tours and presentations from university researchers, government agencies and conservation organizations.
The workshop schedule includes:
- June 24 – Highland Community College, Freeport
- July 9 – Richland Community College, Decatur
- Aug. 5 – Terry L. Bruce West Richland Center, Noble
Registration is $20 per person and includes lunch.
Organizers say the workshops are intended to help participants stay informed about evolving conservation practices while providing opportunities to connect with experts and others involved in Illinois agriculture.
Additional event information and registration details are available through the Illinois Land Improvement Contractors Association website at illica.net/events.
