Chicago, IL – After a few isolated sprinkles Sunday, much of northern Illinois is expected to enjoy several days of quiet weather as temperatures steadily warm into the 80s this week.
According to the National Weather Service Chicago, a few light showers may linger Sunday, particularly near Lake Michigan, with daytime highs ranging from the upper 60s near the lakeshore to around 80 degrees inland. Overnight lows are expected to fall into the low-to-mid 50s.
The warming trend becomes more noticeable beginning Tuesday, when highs climb into the mid-70s to lower 80s under mostly sunny skies. By Wednesday, much of the Chicago metropolitan area, Rockford region, and surrounding northern Illinois communities are expected to reach the lower to middle 80s.
The warmest day of the upcoming workweek is forecast to arrive Thursday, with temperatures expected to peak between 84 and 88 degrees, bringing some of the warmest conditions of the season so far.
According to forecasters, dry conditions should dominate through Thursday before weather changes arrive late in the week. Friday currently carries a 20% chance of scattered showers and a few thunderstorms, with highs remaining in the lower to middle 80s.
While no significant weather hazards are expected during the week, residents planning outdoor activities will likely find favorable conditions for much of the period. Those near Lake Michigan may continue to experience cooler temperatures compared to inland locations.
Additional forecast refinements regarding Friday’s rain chances are expected as the week progresses.
