Green Bay, WI – Strong to potentially severe thunderstorms could impact parts of northeast Wisconsin today, Tuesday, May 12, with the highest risk developing during the late afternoon and early evening hours.

According to the National Weather Service in Green Bay, scattered showers and isolated thunderstorms moved through the region earlier this morning, but additional development is expected later today. Storms may intensify between 3 p.m. and 7 p.m., with conditions becoming favorable for a few strong to severe storms.

The greatest risk area includes Brown, Outagamie, Winnebago, and surrounding counties, including the cities of Green Bay, Appleton, and Oshkosh. While uncertainty remains due to cloud cover potentially limiting storm strength, forecasters say any storms that do develop could quickly become hazardous.

Primary threats include damaging wind gusts and large hail. These storms may develop rapidly, giving residents limited time to react if warnings are issued.

Drivers and those with outdoor plans during the late afternoon hours should stay alert to changing weather conditions. Sudden downpours, gusty winds, and reduced visibility may impact travel across major roadways, including I-41 and Highway 10 corridors.

Residents are encouraged to monitor weather alerts and have multiple ways to receive warnings, especially during the 3 p.m. to 7 p.m. window when storm activity is expected to peak.
