Shelton, CT – Heavy rain drenched parts of the Northeast this week, bringing significant totals to Connecticut and New York. Some areas received over 4 inches of rainfall.

According to the National Weather Service, Suffolk County, NY, experienced 4.21 inches at Montauk Airport. Meanwhile, in Connecticut, Pawcatuck recorded 4.37 inches, the highest statewide. Rainfall ranged between 1 to 3 inches across Fairfield, Middlesex, and New Haven counties.

Commuters reported delays on major highways and localized flooding in low-lying areas. Cities like Stamford and Norwalk received over 1.5 inches, affecting roads and storm drains.

The National Weather Service shared a detailed precipitation map, highlighting areas hardest hit. It revealed the heaviest rain along the southeastern coastline and eastern Long Island.

Residents are urged to remain cautious, especially near waterways. Flood warnings are in place for several counties as streams continue to rise. Officials encourage residents to monitor updates from local authorities for further advisories.

The storm system is expected to clear by Friday, with drier weather anticipated into the weekend.
