Denver, CO – Warm temperatures and periodic afternoon thunderstorm chances are expected across the Denver metro area this week as highs climb into the upper 80s and low 90s before a cooler pattern develops early next week.
According to the National Weather Service, Wednesday will bring sunny skies early before isolated showers and thunderstorms develop after 3 p.m. High temperatures are expected to reach around 91 degrees across Denver and surrounding Front Range communities.
Forecasters say gusty winds and brief downpours may accompany isolated storms during the late afternoon and evening hours Wednesday and Thursday, though widespread severe weather is not currently expected.
Thursday remains warm with highs near 87 degrees and another slight chance for afternoon and evening thunderstorms. Friday will stay mostly sunny with temperatures holding in the mid-80s and only limited rain chances.
Saturday continues the warm pattern with highs near 85 degrees and isolated afternoon storm activity possible across eastern Colorado and foothill areas.
A more noticeable weather shift arrives Sunday into Monday as cooler air moves into the region. Highs are expected to fall into the lower 80s Sunday before dropping near 61 degrees Monday with increasing chances for showers and thunderstorms.
Drivers along Interstate 25 and mountain travel routes should remain alert for rapidly changing conditions during afternoon storm development later this week.
