Little Rock, Ark. – Floodwaters continue to rise along the White and Cache Rivers in eastern Arkansas, submerging farmland and isolating homes across several counties as warnings remain in place through at least Friday.
According to the National Weather Service in Little Rock, flood warnings are active for Georgetown, Des Arc, Clarendon, and Augusta along the White River, with minor flooding currently observed and more expected. At Georgetown, the river stood at 21.3 feet Tuesday night—above the 21-foot flood stage—and roads through Raft Creek Bottoms and Hurricane Lake WMA are already underwater.
In Clarendon, floodwaters reached 28.4 feet Tuesday night, inundating roads and cabins in the Maddox Bay area near Highway 146. Meanwhile, in Augusta, water levels remain high at 31.4 feet, stranding camps and flooding thousands of acres of farmland.
Along the Cache River, minor flooding near Patterson is expected to subside by Friday morning. The river crested at 9.1 feet overnight—just above flood stage—prompting closures and relocation of equipment in low-lying timberlands.
Motorists are urged not to drive through flooded roads or around barricades. Residents in flood-prone areas should move equipment to higher ground and prepare for restricted access through early next week.
Warnings remain in effect through Friday, with additional statements expected by Wednesday night at 11:15 p.m.
