Kankakee’s annual July 4th celebration will have a new look this year as the day’s festivities will be capped off by an exciting laser show to replace the usual fireworks display. The laser show will follow the traditional Kankakee Valley Symphony Orchestra (KVSO) concert on the campus of Kankakee Community College (KCC). The event will again take place on the campus of Kankakee Community College.
The Kankakee Public Library will be closed on Thursday, July 4th in observance of Independence Day. The library will reopen on Friday, July 5th at 9:00 a.m.
Summertime is here and the Fourth of July is less than a week away. Block parties, summer cook-outs and other outdoor fun is on tap for the upcoming holiday. However, more fires are reported on July 4th than any other day of the year in the United States. Nearly half of those fires are caused by fireworks.
