PEKIN, Ind. – A Pekin man is facing multiple felony charges after Indiana State Police say he allegedly shot two women Sunday night before leading officers on a multi-county pursuit that ended in Clark County early Monday morning.
According to the Indiana State Police Sellersburg Post, the investigation began at approximately 10:46 p.m. Sunday, July 26, when troopers and the Washington County Sheriff’s Department responded to a report of a domestic battery and shooting at a residence on East Blankenbaker Road near Pekin.
Investigators allege that Aaron Scott Wilson Thornberry, 33, of Pekin, became involved in an altercation with a woman at the residence, leaving her with visible injuries. Shortly afterward, a second woman arrived at the home, and Thornberry allegedly fired multiple rounds, striking her as she pulled into the driveway before fleeing in a black Ford Explorer.
The shooting victim was transported to UofL Health – University of Louisville Hospital, while the first victim was taken to Ascension St. Vincent Salem Hospital.
According to state police, Thornberry’s vehicle was later spotted by a Scott County officer on State Road 56, prompting a pursuit through Scott, Jefferson, and Clark counties. Troopers deployed stop sticks during the chase, but the suspect allegedly continued driving until Trooper Jason Riley performed a PIT maneuver on State Road 62 near Marble Hill Road in Clark County. The SUV became stuck in a ditch, and Thornberry was taken into custody without further incident.
Thornberry faces preliminary charges including two counts of attempted murder, criminal confinement, possession and operation of a machine gun, intimidation, and multiple domestic battery offenses. Authorities emphasized that all charges are preliminary and subject to formal filing.
