Henrietta, NY – A 15-year-old girl faces a felony assault charge after a stabbing in Henrietta that authorities connected to a deputy spotting a juvenile running across a roadway while carrying knives Tuesday morning.
According to the Monroe County Sheriff’s Office, a deputy on proactive patrol saw the juvenile holding knives while running across Lehigh Station Road at approximately 11:52 a.m. Tuesday. Authorities said she attempted to hide behind nearby bushes before reappearing without the knives.
Moments later, deputies were dispatched to a nearby residence. The first deputy believed the incidents were connected and detained the juvenile while another deputy remained with the discarded knives in case they were needed as evidence.
At the residence, deputies discovered another female juvenile suffering from stab wounds to her lower body, according to the sheriff’s office. Deputies provided first aid and cleared the home so emergency medical personnel could safely respond.
Investigators continued working the case using information gathered at the scene and hospital. Authorities said they obtained additional details and identified evidence they considered crucial to the investigation.
The sheriff’s office said the 15-year-old Henrietta girl was charged with second-degree assault, a Class D felony. Because the suspect is a juvenile, her name was not released.
Following processing, she was taken to Monroe County Family Court for arraignment and subsequently remanded to the Monroe County Children’s Detention Center.
Authorities did not provide additional information about the injured juvenile’s condition in the release.
The case remains based on allegations, and the charge has not been proven in court.
