Wind Advisory in Effect Over Four Corners Region Today: Dangerous Travel Conditions Expected

Grand Junction, CO – Winter weather continues to impact Colorado, with a Winter Weather Advisory in effect until 5 p.m. today, as well as a Wind Advisory from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. for the Four Corners region. Travel disruptions are expected across mountain passes, including I-70, where slick roads and reduced visibility will pose significant hazards.

According to the National Weather Service (NWS) in Grand Junction, snow accumulation in some areas could reach up to four inches by Monday morning. Wind gusts in the Four Corners area are expected to peak at 50 mph, further complicating travel. Officials urge drivers to check road conditions before departing and proceed with caution if travel is unavoidable.

Sunday and Five-Day Outlook

The wintry conditions will extend into Sunday, with partly cloudy skies in Grand Junction and a high near 31°F. Overnight temperatures will drop to around 14°F, with calmer winds expected. Looking ahead, Martin Luther King Day will bring mostly sunny skies and a high of 30°F, followed by a sharp dip Monday night to 5°F.

By Tuesday and Wednesday, conditions will stabilize with highs near 33°F and 40°F, respectively. Drivers are advised to remain alert for icy patches as cold temperatures persist.
