Wichita, Kansas – Spotty thunderstorms and steamy afternoons will dominate the weather in Kansas through midweek, bringing daily rain chances but no all-day washouts.

According to the National Weather Service in Wichita, Central, South-Central, and Southeast Kansas can expect off-and-on showers and storms each afternoon and evening from Sunday through Wednesday. Highs will range from 88 to 96 degrees, with isolated downpours and gusty winds possible during stronger cells.

Cities like Wichita, Hutchinson, and Winfield should stay alert for brief periods of heavy rain and lightning, especially during the late-day hours. Roads may become slick during sudden downpours, and isolated power outages can’t be ruled out. Outdoor plans should include backup options and weather-aware apps.

The pattern shifts by Thursday, when clearer skies and hotter conditions arrive. Highs may push into the upper 90s, especially in areas like Coffeyville and Arkansas City.

While no severe outbreaks are expected, residents are urged to monitor local alerts and remain cautious near flooded intersections or low-lying roads. This unsettled pattern is typical for early July but still carries risk for those caught outside during fast-developing storms.

Showers are expected to taper off by Thursday, with drier and hotter conditions returning to the region.
