Richmond, Va. – Much of Virginia will enjoy dry, sunny weather through Thursday as high pressure holds firm over the region, but rain and thunderstorms are expected to return by Friday afternoon. Temperatures will climb into the low 80s by midweek, with overnight lows staying mild.

According to the National Weather Service in Wakefield, a low risk of rip currents will persist along coastal areas through Wednesday, and skies will remain mostly sunny with only scattered clouds. Tuesday’s highs will range from 79 to 85 degrees, warming further into the upper 80s by Wednesday and Thursday.

Communities across central and eastern Virginia — including Richmond, Norfolk, and Virginia Beach — will see mostly clear nights with lows in the 50s and 60s. This pattern will hold until Friday, when multiple frontal systems begin to move into the area, triggering potential showers and thunderstorms late in the day.

Residents are advised to plan outdoor activities early in the week and remain alert for changing weather conditions by the weekend. If storms do materialize Friday or Saturday, localized flooding and brief travel delays could occur.

More updates are expected by Thursday as storm chances become clearer.
