Shreveport, LA – An Excessive Heat Warning has been issued for the Four State Region, covering parts of Texas, Louisiana, Arkansas, and Oklahoma, effective until 8 p.m. CDT Saturday. Dangerously hot conditions with a heat index of at least 110 are expected, posing significant health risks.

According to the US National Weather Service Shreveport, the warning affects portions of south central and southwest Arkansas, north central and northwest Louisiana, southeast Oklahoma, and east and northeast Texas. This extreme heat could lead to heat-related illnesses, particularly for those engaged in outdoor activities or without access to air conditioning.

Residents are urged to stay hydrated, limit outdoor exposure, and check on vulnerable individuals, such as the elderly and young children. The NWS emphasizes the importance of recognizing signs of heat exhaustion and heat stroke, which can become life-threatening.

Local authorities have advised seeking shelter during peak heat hours and utilizing cooling centers if necessary. Emergency services are on alert to respond to heat-related incidents. This warning comes amid an ongoing heatwave affecting much of the southern United States, exacerbating drought conditions and increasing fire risks.
