The US National Weather Service has issued a tornado watch for parts of Kansas and Missouri until 11 PM CDT tonight. Residents in the affected areas, including Kansas City, St. Joseph, Topeka, and Junction City, should remain vigilant and prepared for severe weather conditions.

A tornado watch means that conditions are favorable for the development of tornadoes. Along with the potential for a couple of tornadoes, scattered hail up to the size of tennis balls and winds gusting up to 75 MPH are likely. The affected regions include densely populated areas, with a total population of over 3 million people, 1,293 schools, and 95 hospitals potentially impacted.

A cold front has recently pushed through the region, bringing dry conditions expected to last through Sunday. However, the immediate concern remains the severe weather threat posed by the current atmospheric conditions. The National Weather Service advises all residents to stay updated with the latest weather information and to have a plan in place in case of a tornado warning.
