Sioux Falls, SD – Dense fog is gripping the area today, reducing visibility to as low as a quarter mile. A Dense Fog Advisory remains in effect until noon for Sioux Falls and surrounding areas, including Minnehaha County, according to the National Weather Service. Drivers are urged to use headlights, maintain extra distance, and slow down to avoid hazardous conditions.
The advisory comes as light drizzle complicates travel further. Foggy conditions are expected to ease by this afternoon, but overcast skies will linger through the day, keeping temperatures in the mid-30s to mid-40s.
Looking ahead, rain chances rise to 20-50% on Friday, with temperatures climbing into the upper 30s and low 40s. Warmer, sunnier skies are forecast for Saturday, with highs near 50 degrees, making it a prime day for post-Christmas errands or travel.
By Sunday, the high will reach the mid-40s before a significant shift occurs. The next storm system could bring a mix of rain and snow late Sunday into Monday, with temperatures dropping into the low 30s. This could create slick conditions for Monday morning commuters, especially on untreated roads.
If you plan to travel, monitor updates and be prepared for potential delays due to deteriorating road conditions.
