DuBois, Pa. – Snow showers and powerful wind gusts up to 50 mph are creating dangerous travel conditions across central and north-central Pennsylvania, with snow squalls possible through Tuesday afternoon.

According to the National Weather Service in State College, a Winter Weather Advisory remains in effect until 5 p.m. Tuesday for areas including Warren, McKean, Potter, Clearfield, Centre, Cambria, and Somerset counties. Snowfall totals range from 1 to 3 inches in the south to around 2 inches farther north, but rapidly changing conditions are expected as snow showers redevelop this afternoon.

Cities such as DuBois, Bradford, Johnstown, and Somerset could experience sudden bursts of heavier snow, briefly reducing visibility and quickly coating roadways. Strong winds may down tree branches, leading to isolated power outages and additional hazards on roads.

PennDOT urges drivers to slow down and check 511PA for live updates. Snow squalls this afternoon could create near whiteout conditions within minutes, especially along open stretches of highway and higher terrain.

Conditions are expected to improve after 5 p.m., but lingering slick spots and gusty winds may continue into the evening.
