Pennsylvania – Damp air clings to Center City this morning as mist blurs the skyline and tires hiss along wet pavement on I-95. Light rain redevelops by midday, and steadier showers take over through the afternoon. If you’re commuting, slow down and keep headlights on.
According to the National Weather Service, temperatures climb to around 51 degrees today with a 30% chance of rain increasing late. Showers become widespread tonight, with rain chances rising to 80% and lows near 41. Patchy fog lingers at times, especially near the Schuylkill and low-lying neighborhoods.
Periods of showers continue into Thursday, and rainfall totals between a tenth and a quarter inch are possible by evening. Roads stay damp through the end of the workweek. While temperatures remain above freezing in Philadelphia, outlying suburbs north and west could flirt with colder pockets. This is the time of year when flash freezing can occur if skies briefly clear and temperatures dip after sunset. Watch bridges and overpasses.
By Friday, rain chances drop to 20% with mostly cloudy skies and highs near 49. Then spring vibes surge in. Saturday jumps to the upper 60s before more showers return late. Sunday turns mostly sunny with highs in the mid-60s.
Looking ahead, Monday reaches near 68 and Tuesday pushes toward the mid-70s. That’s early March warmth building into the first full week of the month. Clocks spring ahead at 2 a.m. Sunday, March 8. We gain evening daylight and a taste of a warm spell.
