New York, NY – Wet pavement and patchy fog are slowing drivers across Manhattan and the boroughs this morning, with visibility briefly dipping near bridges and along the FDR Drive. Light rain is developing again and will become steadier by mid to late afternoon. If you’re heading out, grab a rain jacket and allow extra time on slick roads.

According to the National Weather Service, rain chances climb to 80% today, with highs struggling near 44 degrees. Northeast winds increase between 7 and 14 mph tonight as steadier rain settles in. Another quarter to half inch of rainfall is possible before showers taper late Thursday night.

Expect damp commutes through tonight, especially on elevated roadways where mist and drizzle linger. Temperatures hover in the 40s, so while this stays all rain, colder pockets north and west of the city could flirt with a brief mix if readings slip toward 32 degrees. That’s something to watch in interior New Jersey and the lower Hudson Valley.

By Friday, skies remain mostly cloudy with highs near 45. Then a noticeable shift arrives this weekend. Saturday turns milder, reaching the upper 50s with more dry time. Showers return Saturday night into early Sunday.

Looking ahead, a warming trend builds next week. Sunshine increases Monday with highs near 62, then mid-60s by Tuesday. It’s a preview of spring warmth as we approach the March 8 time change, when clocks spring ahead at 2 a.m. Warmer days are gaining ground.
