Michigan — Light snow showers are drifting across Gaylord this morning, mixing with cold air near 30°F and creating slick patches on roads as flood concerns continue across parts of northern Michigan.

According to the National Weather Service, a Flood Warning remains in effect through 8 p.m., with rivers running high and low-lying roads at risk. At the same time, scattered snow showers are expected through late morning, with temperatures struggling to reach 35°F before dropping sharply tonight.

Across Otsego County and surrounding areas, drivers along M-32 and I-75 may encounter brief visibility drops and wet pavement early. As temperatures fall into the evening, conditions may deteriorate quickly. Lows will plunge to around 18°F, creating a high risk of flash freezing where snowmelt refreezes on bridges and untreated roads.

Monday morning brings the coldest impact. Sub-freezing conditions will keep roads slick in spots, especially in shaded areas. Residents should allow extra travel time and use caution on rural routes.

The pattern flips quickly by Tuesday. Sunshine returns with highs near 58°F, followed by 63°F Wednesday. This rapid warm-up may increase runoff into already swollen rivers, prolonging localized flooding concerns even as skies clear.

By Thursday and Friday, moisture returns with increasing chances for rain showers, potentially slowing any river recovery.

Take action now: avoid flooded roads, watch for icy patches tonight, and prepare for rapid temperature swings.

Flood warnings remain in place through this evening, with additional updates expected as river levels and temperatures change.
