Ohio — Bright sunshine is breaking through now, but a sharp temperature drop later today will set up frost formation that could impact early Monday travel and damage sensitive plants across the Cincinnati metro.

According to the National Weather Service, a Frost Advisory takes effect from 2 a.m. to 10 a.m. Monday, with temperatures falling to around 36°F and patchy frost developing across Hamilton County and surrounding areas.

Across Cincinnati, Covington, and Newport, conditions stay dry and mild through the afternoon with highs near 61°F. Winds may gust up to 28 mph, adding a brisk feel despite the sun. By late evening, skies clear and temperatures drop quickly, especially in low-lying areas and suburbs. Drivers on I-71, I-75, and I-275 should watch for isolated slick spots on bridges if temperatures dip faster than expected.

The bigger concern arrives early Monday morning. Frost may coat windshields, sidewalks, and exposed vegetation. Gardeners should cover plants and bring potted greenery indoors. Pets and outdoor plumbing may also need protection as temperatures hover in the mid-30s.

Conditions rebound quickly. By Tuesday, highs surge to 76°F under sunny skies, followed by another warm day Wednesday near 76°F. A slight chance of thunderstorms develops Tuesday night into early Wednesday, though severe weather remains limited for now. Still, brief downpours and gusty winds could affect late-night travel.

Looking ahead, Thursday brings a true “summer tease” with highs near 83°F before rain chances increase late week.

Take action now: protect plants, allow extra time for the Monday morning commute, and stay alert for changing conditions.
