FARMINGTON, NM — A multi-agency operation in Waterflow, New Mexico, has resulted in the destruction of 170,000 pounds of illegal cannabis plants, following violations by NNK Equities. The New Mexico Cannabis Control Division (CCD) launched a compliance investigation in June 2024, determining that NNK Equities exceeded its authorized plant count at its location on 23 Road 6940. Upon receiving a secondary complaint, officials identified an additional grow site at 3658 US 64, also linked to NNK, covering 90 acres.

The CCD swiftly moved to revoke NNK’s cannabis license in August due to these violations. In September, a court issued a restraining order, mandating a halt to all cannabis activities on both properties. By October 16, over 50 New Mexico State Police officers from multiple units, along with the Organized Crime Commission and Department of Transportation, mobilized to eradicate the cannabis plants across both sites.

New Mexico State Police Chief Troy Weisler emphasized the importance of collaboration in upholding state law, noting the operation’s significant impact on illegal cannabis activity. Regulation and Licensing Department Superintendent Clay Bailey affirmed the state’s commitment to protecting New Mexico’s legal cannabis industry from unlawful operators.
