Minneapolis, Minnesota — Scattered showers are expected to develop across the Twin Cities Saturday evening, with rain moving through between 6 p.m. and 10 p.m. and creating slick roads and reduced visibility in Minneapolis, St. Paul, Bloomington and Eagan.

According to the National Weather Service in the Twin Cities, rain chances remain limited at 20 to 30 percent, but brief showers may still dampen roads and impact travel before skies clear overnight.

This is part of a broader system bringing a brief warmup through Monday before a cold front arrives, reintroducing additional rain chances and cooler air into midweek.

Light rain may quickly create slick pavement on highways including I-94 and I-35, with water beginning to collect on low-lying ramps and underpasses, especially in urban areas where drainage is slower. Visibility could drop during passing showers between 7 p.m. and 9 p.m., affecting weekend travel.

Conditions improve Sunday with dry and breezy weather, but another round of showers is possible Monday afternoon into the evening, potentially slowing the commute across the metro.

Drivers should reduce speed on wet roads and watch for changing conditions during passing showers.

The most immediate impact will occur between 7 p.m. and 9 p.m. Saturday, when scattered showers briefly reduce visibility and road traction.
