Evans City, PA – Pennsylvania State Police are offering a $5,000 reward for information that helps solve the 2013 homicide of a Butler County man found fatally shot behind his business more than a decade ago.
According to PSP Butler, troopers responded around 11:19 p.m. on January 11, 2013, to Bob’s Truck & Auto Repair on Evans City Road after reports of a deceased man with an apparent gunshot wound to the chest.
Investigators identified the victim as 45-year-old Robert Charles Gaurrich of Evans City.
Police said Gaurrich was discovered lying face down on a gravel pile behind the repair shop. Detectives believe he was shot inside the business before attempting to flee through the east main door.
Authorities also reported a rifle belonging to the victim was missing from the scene following the homicide.
The firearm was described as a Winchester Canadian Centennial 30-30 lever-action rifle with an octagonal barrel measuring approximately 26 to 28 inches long. Investigators said the rifle featured a wooden stock with decorative wood putty on the forearm and had iron sights but no scope.
State police noted one sling ring was broken and another metal ring on the butt stock was missing.
Troopers are urging anyone with information related to the homicide or the missing rifle to contact PSP Butler or submit anonymous tips through PSP Tips.
Officials emphasized that all unsolved Pennsylvania State Police cases are eligible for reward money tied to information that helps solve crimes or locate suspects.
The investigation remains active.
