Midland, TX – Residents in Midland and surrounding areas should prepare for a week of intense heat as temperatures are expected to soar above 100°F starting today and lasting through early next week. According to the National Weather Service (NWS) in Midland, temperatures will peak on Wednesday, which could be the hottest day in the forecast, with highs reaching 105°F in some locations.

Nights will offer little respite as temperatures are predicted to remain in the mid-70s, leaving the region under sustained heat stress. This pattern of above-normal temperatures is expected to persist, with daily highs hitting or exceeding 100°F through at least Monday.

The NWS advises residents to stay hydrated, avoid prolonged outdoor activities during peak heat hours, and take frequent breaks if working outside. The ongoing heatwave could pose serious health risks, particularly for the elderly, children, and those with pre-existing health conditions.

Looking ahead, temperatures are expected to slightly moderate over the weekend but will still hover around the upper 90s to low 100s. Relief may only come by next Tuesday when the forecast suggests a potential dip below the 100°F mark.
