Quad Cities, IA/IL — The National Weather Service has issued a Flash Flood Watch for parts of Iowa and Illinois, effective through tonight, as periods of heavy rainfall are expected to continue throughout the day. This weather alert encompasses regions along and south of a line from Williamsburg, IA, to Aledo, IL, including areas such as Wapello.

According to the National Weather Service, repeated rounds of storms could lead to flash flooding, particularly in locations with poor drainage and urban areas. The rainfall may cause significant rises in local rivers, creeks, and streams, exacerbating the flood risk. Residents are advised to avoid flooded roads and find alternate routes to ensure their safety.

The Flash Flood Watch remains in effect this morning, and the heavy rainfall is anticipated to persist into the night. The region’s rivers, already elevated from recent rains, are at risk of renewed flooding.
