Marquette, MI – Temperatures are dropping fast across Upper Michigan, with snow showers and overnight lows near 15°F expected to impact travel and outdoor conditions through Sunday morning.
According to the National Weather Service in Marquette, rain showers will exit early today, but colder air will move in quickly, allowing light snow to develop across northern and eastern areas later today. Lake effect snow showers are expected Sunday, especially in areas near Lake Superior.
High temperatures will struggle to reach the mid-30s to upper 40s today, with even colder conditions Sunday as highs range from 32 to 44 degrees. Overnight lows will fall sharply into the 15 to 26 degree range, particularly across interior المناطق where colder air settles.
Roads across Marquette, Munising, and Houghton could become slick at times, especially overnight and early morning when temperatures drop below freezing. Drivers should remain alert for changing conditions on U.S. 41 and M-28.
Residents should prepare for winter-like conditions by limiting travel during snow showers and protecting outdoor items from freezing temperatures. While warmer air returns Monday with highs in the 40s to low 50s, flooding concerns remain as rivers continue running high.
Additional advisories may be issued as lake effect snow develops and temperatures continue to fluctuate.
