Davenport, IA – Gusty winds and scattered storms are expected across eastern Iowa and western Illinois today, Tuesday, May 12, as a cold front moves through the Quad Cities region.

According to the National Weather Service in the Quad Cities, isolated showers and thunderstorms will develop throughout the day, with wind gusts reaching up to 45 mph. These strong winds may impact travel on major routes including I-80, I-74, and I-88, especially for high-profile vehicles.

Temperatures today will climb into the upper 70s to low 80s before dropping significantly tonight, with lows falling into the upper 40s to mid-50s.

By Wednesday, May 13, a noticeable cooldown settles in, with highs ranging from 66 to 75 degrees and continued breezy conditions, with gusts up to 30 mph. Skies are expected to gradually clear as drier air moves into the region.

The warming trend resumes Thursday, May 14, with sunshine and highs returning to the low to upper 70s. By Friday, May 15, temperatures will climb further into the upper 70s to mid-80s, with additional chances for isolated showers and thunderstorms returning to the forecast.

While severe weather is not the primary concern today, the combination of strong winds and passing storms could lead to brief hazards, including reduced visibility and difficult driving conditions.
