La Crosse, Wisconsin – Scattered severe storms are possible Friday evening across parts of western Wisconsin and northeast Iowa.

The National Weather Service in La Crosse reports a Level 2 severe thunderstorm risk in portions of the region, including northeast Iowa and southwest Wisconsin. Storms are expected to move from west to east during the evening hours.

Forecasters say some storms could become strong to severe, with large hail and damaging wind identified as the primary threats. An isolated tornado or two and heavy rainfall are listed as secondary risks.

Confidence for stronger storm development is highest across northeast Iowa and southwest Wisconsin, though showers and non-severe storms may extend more broadly across the area.

Mild temperatures are expected to continue through the weekend, with daytime highs ranging from the mid-40s to 60s.

Residents are urged to remain weather aware Friday evening, especially those with outdoor plans. Officials recommend having multiple ways to receive warnings and being prepared to move indoors if storms approach.

For commuters and students attending evening activities, conditions could change quickly as storms move through.
