Jackson, Kentucky – Drivers and residents across Eastern Kentucky could wake up to flooded roads and rising creeks Saturday morning, as repeated rounds of heavy rainfall continue overnight.

According to the National Weather Service in Jackson, a Slight Risk for excessive rainfall remains in effect until 8 a.m. Saturday, June 7, covering all of Eastern Kentucky. Additional waves of showers and embedded thunderstorms are expected, with isolated areas possibly experiencing flash flooding or high water, especially where rain has already saturated the ground.

Counties including Pike, Floyd, Perry, and Breathitt are among the most at risk, particularly near low-lying roads and small creeks. Although the threat of severe thunderstorms has diminished, forecasters warn that localized flash flooding could still occur, especially in areas hit by earlier rain on Friday.

Residents are urged to avoid driving through flooded roads, stay alert to changing conditions, and move to higher ground if needed. Emergency officials advise keeping phones charged and monitoring weather alerts overnight.

This rainfall outlook will be updated early Saturday. Stay weather-aware and prepared as conditions could evolve quickly.
