Pueblo, CO – El Paso and Pueblo counties are under a Heat Advisory today, with temperatures expected to soar into the upper 90s, reaching up to 100 degrees. The National Weather Service (NWS) in Pueblo has issued the advisory, which is in effect from noon to 7 PM MDT.
According to the NWS, residents should take precautions to avoid heat-related illnesses by staying hydrated and limiting outdoor activities during peak heat hours. The advisory highlights the importance of recognizing symptoms of heat exhaustion and heat stroke, which can become life-threatening if not treated promptly.
In addition to the heat, the region is bracing for isolated to scattered thunderstorms, which could bring relief from the intense temperatures. However, these storms may become severe, with potential wind gusts up to 60 MPH and hail up to 1 inch in diameter. The NWS warns that the storms could produce heavy rainfall and dangerous lightning.
As the moisture increases across the region, more cloud cover is expected by the afternoon, providing some respite from the extreme heat. Residents are urged to stay informed and monitor weather updates closely as conditions may change rapidly.
