Riverside, CA – A 23-year-old Riverside man has been arrested on murder charges following a fatal traffic collision that claimed the life of an 8-year-old boy last year. Andres Laris was taken into custody by the Riverside Police Department’s METRO Team on Thursday after a year-long investigation determined he was allegedly at fault in the May 2023 crash.
According to authorities, Laris was reportedly driving over 100 mph on Arlington Avenue when his vehicle veered into oncoming traffic, colliding with another car. The impact killed the boy and left three other passengers, including the boy’s siblings, with serious injuries. Detectives revealed that Laris had cannabis in his system at the time of the crash and had a history of speeding violations. He is currently held on a $1 million bail.
