Columbus, OH – An unhoused man was shot Monday night near Ohio State University’s campus. The incident occurred around 8:30 p.m. on the John Herrick Bridge, located within proximity to Ohio State’s Columbus campus.
The victim, not affiliated with Ohio State, flagged down a bus for help. He told the driver that he had been shot and needed medical assistance. Emergency personnel responded immediately and transported him to the hospital in stable condition.
According to OSU Police, the victim stated that the suspect was another unhoused man with whom he had prior altercations. The suspect, identified as Richard James Patridge, remains at large. Police established a perimeter and are actively searching for him. Authorities are advising the public not to approach Patridge.
