Calhoun County, MI – A Springfield woman was arrested Wednesday morning after deputies say she allegedly threatened a man with a stolen handgun during a dispute over a missing cellphone.
According to the Calhoun County Sheriff’s Office, deputies responded at approximately 4:50 a.m. Wednesday, July 22, 2026, to the 1100 block of Harmonia Road in the City of Springfield for a reported assault involving a firearm.
Investigators said a 48-year-old man contacted Calhoun County Consolidated Dispatch after a verbal dispute with a 46-year-old female acquaintance over a missing cellphone. When the man attempted to retrieve the phone, the woman allegedly threatened to kill him and pointed a handgun at him. The man fled the residence and called 911, according to deputies.
Deputies arrived at the home and detained the suspect without incident. After being advised of her rights, authorities said the woman declined to answer questions but acknowledged possessing a handgun and directed deputies to its location.
According to the sheriff’s office, deputies recovered the firearm and later determined it had been reported stolen.
Officials said the suspect was transported to a local hospital for medical clearance because of an alleged high level of intoxication before being lodged at the Calhoun County Jail.
She was booked on preliminary charges of felonious assault and possession of a stolen handgun, according to the sheriff’s office.
