Duluth, MN – Northern Minnesota residents should prepare for strong thunderstorms and heavy rain beginning Thursday afternoon and continuing into Friday morning. The National Weather Service in Duluth warns of isolated severe storms that could impact parts of north-central Minnesota, including the Arrowhead region.
According to the National Weather Service, the strongest storms could produce locally heavy rain Thursday evening into the overnight hours. Areas in and around Duluth, Ely, and Virginia might experience the most significant weather impacts, with storms possibly bringing gusty winds and torrential downpours.
Temperatures are expected to rise into the weekend, with high humidity creating muggy conditions. The forecast shows a 50% to 70% chance of above-normal temperatures, with highs reaching the 80s and lows in the mid-60s to low 70s. These warmer conditions are expected to persist through the end of the month, with a return to near-normal temperatures anticipated by early September.
Residents should stay updated on weather developments and prepare for possible severe weather. Those in the affected areas are urged to monitor local forecasts and take necessary precautions.
