Grand Junction, Colorado – Powerful winds followed by a sharp overnight freeze are set to impact western Colorado, raising concerns for power outages, damaged vegetation, and frozen pipes through Saturday morning.

According to the National Weather Service in Grand Junction, a Wind Advisory remains in effect until 8 p.m. Thursday, with southwest winds of 25 to 35 mph and gusts reaching up to 55 mph across the Colorado River Basin and surrounding مناطق. Unsecured objects could be blown around, and isolated power outages are possible as tree limbs come down.

The bigger concern arrives overnight, as a Freeze Warning begins at midnight and continues through 10 a.m. Friday, with temperatures dropping as low as 9 to 16 degrees in some valleys. A second freeze is expected again late Friday night into Saturday morning, with lows potentially falling to 11 degrees across parts of the region.

Communities including Grand Junction, Rifle, Craig, Durango, and Moab could all see impacts from both wind and freezing temperatures. Sensitive crops and early-season vegetation are at high risk, while unprotected outdoor plumbing could freeze or burst.

Residents should secure outdoor items today and take immediate steps to protect plants and pipes before temperatures plunge overnight. Additional advisories remain in place through Saturday morning as conditions continue to evolve.
