Douglas, Wyoming – Roads across southeast Wyoming could turn icy within hours tonight as falling temperatures trigger a rapid flash freeze following evening snowfall.

According to the National Weather Service in Cheyenne, a Winter Weather Advisory takes effect at 6 p.m. MDT and continues through Friday, bringing 1 to 4 inches of snow to Converse County, including Douglas and Glenrock. Wind gusts up to 45 mph will combine with falling snow to reduce visibility and create drifting across roadways.

The most immediate concern is the sharp temperature drop expected tonight. Wet pavement could freeze quickly, especially on bridges and overpasses, making travel hazardous by the early Friday morning commute.

Farther west and south, including Rawlins, Saratoga, and Arlington, stronger winds up to 50 mph and snowfall totals between 2 and 5 inches are expected through Friday afternoon. Higher elevations in the North Laramie Range could see up to 8 inches of snow, with blowing snow creating near-whiteout conditions at times.

Drivers should prepare now for rapidly changing conditions, reduce speed, and check Wyoming 511 for updates. Advisories remain in effect through Friday afternoon as snow and wind continue to impact the region.
