Centennial, CO – Residents in a south metro Denver neighborhood are being urged to stay alert after a bobcat was spotted roaming near homes and streets Friday.

According to the Arapahoe County Sheriff’s Office, the sighting occurred in the area of South Holly Street and East Dry Creek Road in Centennial. Deputies issued a community advisory after multiple reports of the animal moving through residential areas, including along fences and roadways.

Authorities say the bobcat does not appear to be aggressive but is still considered a wild animal that should be treated with caution. Residents are advised to keep pets on a leash, bring animals indoors when possible, and avoid approaching or attempting to feed the bobcat.

Officials also recommend giving the animal plenty of space and reporting any aggressive behavior to local law enforcement immediately.

Bobcats are native to Colorado and are occasionally seen in suburban areas as development expands into wildlife habitats. While attacks on humans are rare, small pets can be at risk if left unattended outdoors.

The sheriff’s office continues to monitor the situation and is working with local partners to ensure community safety.
