Oswego, IL – A 20-year-old motorcyclist was killed in a crash Saturday afternoon in Oswego, prompting a multi-hour road closure and ongoing investigation, according to local police.

According to the Oswego Police Department, officers responded around 1:42 p.m. Saturday, May 9, 2026, to the 4000 block of Route 34 near Wolf Road for a reported motorcycle crash involving another vehicle. Dispatchers advised that the motorcyclist was unconscious and receiving CPR before officers arrived.

Police said the rider was transported to a local hospital, where he later died from his injuries. His identity has not yet been released pending an autopsy scheduled for Monday, May 11.

Preliminary findings indicate the motorcycle was traveling eastbound on Route 34 when it struck an enclosed trailer being towed by a van. Authorities said the van was also heading eastbound and was attempting to turn right into a driveway at the time of the collision.

The driver of the van, a 31-year-old man, and a passenger were not injured in the crash.

Route 34 was closed between Wolf Road and Boulder Hill Pass for approximately four hours as officers conducted crash reconstruction and cleared the scene.

The incident remains under investigation. Authorities are asking anyone with information to contact the Oswego Police Department.
