Elmhurst, Ill. — The Elmhurst History Museum will celebrate the opening of a new outdoor performance venue. The grand opening will also celebrate 50 years that the museum has been located at the Glos Mansion. On Friday, June 6, at 6:30 p.m., the museum will dedicate the new space.
The museum built the new outdoor performance space with a grant from the Illinois Department of Natural Resources. The project also received private fundraising through the Elmhurst Heritage Foundation. To inaugurate the new venue, there will be a ribbon cutting and remarks by the Elmhurst History Museum team on Friday evening, June 6. The Elmhurst Symphony Orchestra will also perform in the new venue. Guests are invited to bring their own chair, blanket or cooler to enjoy the evening.
The Glos Mansion was built in 1892 for Henry and Lucy Glos. It was dedicated as a historic Elmhurst landmark in September 2007. The Elmhurst History Museum has been located in the mansion since 1975 in downtown Elmhurst.
