Fort Wayne, IN – A 44-year-old man was arrested Tuesday morning after Fort Wayne police served a narcotics-related search warrant at an apartment and seized drugs, authorities said.

According to the Fort Wayne Police Department, its Vice and Narcotics Division, assisted by the Emergency Services Team, served the warrant around 9:55 a.m. Tuesday in the 6700 block of Old Trail Road.

Police said narcotics were located and seized during the operation. Authorities identified the man arrested as Laronnie D. Garrett, 44.

Garrett was arrested on a preliminary charge of dealing cocaine, a Level 2 felony, according to police. Authorities also listed preliminary charges of possession of cocaine, possession of a controlled substance and money laundering.

Police said Garrett was already out on bond in connection with an unrelated narcotics case when Tuesday’s arrest occurred.

The department’s initial announcement did not specify the quantity of cocaine or other narcotics allegedly seized during the search. Police also did not provide an estimated value for the drugs or release additional details about the money laundering allegation.

The Old Trail Road operation occurred in Fort Wayne, the largest city in Allen County and northeastern Indiana.

The charges listed by police are preliminary. Garrett is presumed innocent unless proven guilty in court, and additional information about the case could become available through court proceedings.

Authorities did not announce any additional arrests in connection with Tuesday morning’s search.
